MONO MONDAY

It is Mono Monday and the Theme is:  "Turn."

This isn't a Tern...but rather a Gull.  A juvenile Ring-billed Gull (Larus delawarensis), to be precise.  And it just turned left to head back to the only open water available on this day. Lots of gulls were flying and making tight circles above the open water and occasionally dipping in to grab an unsuspecting minnow.

Gulls can be unpleasant birds in large numbers being bossy, irritable and LOUD.  They'll even streak in and steal food right out of your hand. But all you have to do is watch them fly for a while and you will see that they are masters of the air...truly splendid flyers.
