Dean Park Mews
Dean Park presumably was part of the Dean Estate. Dean House was demolished to make way for the Dean Cemetery and it was not until the daring Dean Bridge was built over the Water of Leith that Edinburgh’s New Town could be extended. This by passed Dean Village whose mills were being put out of business by modern mills in Leith. Gradually housing development moved further down Comely Bank. A Learmonth bought the Dean Estate and seems to have been the promoter behind this development- many roads in the area bear his name. Dean Park Mews is a lovely mews street that remains relatively undeveloped and off the selfie-popping tourist trail.
I’d actually gone out to buy some ecover washing detergent.
