Eileen

Eileen is officially the oldest person I've ever met! She's 101 years old and I've met 40 year olds with less energy than her.

I got chatting to her today at Renvyle House, where I'm shooting a wedding tomorrow. I think we chatted for a full hour, and she told me all about her life. She lives in Galway City but she has travelled all around the world, and just loves to fly but would never set foot on a boat.

We talked about how all her friends and her husband have now died, but she still has her 'young sister' who is 97 (!) and her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren! She puts her long life down to good genes, no alcohol and eating lots of apple pie, and she is mad about the British Royal Family, after watching the Queen since she was a little girl.

Eileen grew up with three tall and beautiful sisters, but even though she was short and plain, when they went out to the dance halls she was always the one who was never off the dance floor, because the men just loved her. She was engaged to 8 different men before she married her husband, but never took a ring off them because she knew they wouldn't last - she just couldn't bear to say no! She said she was the biggest flirt in Co Galway and I can well believe it, a woman after my own heart :)
