Ahead of their time ?

Lesser Celandine,  Ranunculus ficaria.

Over 200 years ago the naturalist Gilbert White recorded that the Lesser Celandine in his garden was very consistent in that ir opened its first flowers every year on February 21st.
Here we are almost 300 miles further north and yet it is open on February 11th.
Makes one think.
