VC at parkrun
A beautiful day for a parkrun at our local Prom. The blip shows the view of the earliest volunteers who arrived first to set up the banners, notices and cone off the route for the runners to follow. The chair frames J, an amazing chap who has made parkrun part of his weekly routine, even though he is unable to tackle the full 5k. He did manage to walk 2k before meeting us which was awesome. We had a record 522 parkrunners and it was a joy to be part of such a wonderful group of likeminded people. The young volunteers coped brilliantly without too many hitches. As for me, I ran my fastest time this year and my core exercises recommended by a fellow runner last week seem to be doing the trick.
We met with our parkrun friends for breakfast and enjoyed a chat about everything parkrun.
Later G and I watched the 2 exciting 6 Nations matches and before we knew it was time for tea. We both agreed that Scotland was robbed, and Wales deserved a win. But that was not to be. I enjoyed messaging G from his hospital bed about the matches and hope it might have brought some normality into his day. It was a very poignant moment when the English team brought a small boy suffering from a brain tumour like G onto the Twickenham pitch at the start to share the atmosphere.
