Unlucky 13

The polar swims started again today. The water was as flat as a mill pond, it was inky black as the sun was late in making an appearance and it was a chilly 6°. It was a bit painful on the shoulders as I got in but after a few choice swear words and some dramatic gasps I swam the course. Victoria stuck to dockside and did lengths and I joined her after doing the course. I was in about twenty minutes and it was enough. The fire pit was lit and it was wonderful to warm ourselves round it afterwards. It was a glorious swim.

My swim number was 13. I should have had it yesterday as I managed to get a black eye whilst unloading the lorry. The strap swung back at an angle and whacked me in the face…..yet another accident form to fill in. Julie P was helping a donor who fainted and he accidentally kicked her in the face and split her lip…..another accident form. It was one of those days lol.
