Star & Garter

An iconic town house in Linlithgow. Built 1759. Later became a hotel (specifically for railway workers). Became a burned out shell ten years ago. Restored again and re-opened as a hotel, restaurant and bar with an attached micro brewery. Then it closed, has been shut over a year. The building is deteriorating which is a shame, as you approach the town from the East you see the palace in the distance, then you pass the site of a dynamite factory* (now a Tesco) and then at the head of the High Street the Star & Garter.

* I know! A dynamite factory on the High Street. I'm old enough to remember the original building. I took a photograph of it, must dig it out and scan it.

Anyway a pure bugger of a day. The dog walks were not enjoyed, the weather was grim.
