Freezy Froze

A fine walk with the dog this morning. Well North of 'crisp'. Puddles frozen solid so another puddle bubble blip. Car had to be scraped. We walked miles, after a while Jack Frost ceased to trouble our fingers, toes and paws and an honest warmth was afforded in the sunshine.

I have recently become a fan of the Wellington boot. Slip on and off at the door, no need to trek gutters into the house and none of that malarkey with laces which with arthritic hands has become a little irksome. Puddles, streams and mud no longer hinder our ambulations, I have become the human equivalent of an SUV.

After the woods and the beach we tackled the sea wall. We stopped to watch a cormorant , while not uncommon I have never seen one here before. Strange seabirds, they scoot along half submerged with only their neck and head above water.

A later walk around Linlithgow Loch was very agreeable. Sunshine, blue skies.

As I post this the council gritters are grumbling up and down our road. I suspect another cold one tonight.

Word of the day: Crouton.*

*It may be French for 'crouton'.
