Thank you for yesterday’s stars, heart & comments - it really was down to nature!

Left Kaikoura this morning, and within 15 minutes had to pull over and watch a pod of dolphins in the bay - not quite the same numbers as yesterday but great to see.

Next destination is Christchurch, about 3 hours south. First stop was to the International Antarctic Centre … lots of interactive activities, information and, at the heart of it, Christchurch really is a stepping stone to Antarctica now and 100 years ago. Flights today, but ships loaded here yesteryear and sailed off into the unknown.

We did a bumpy ride on an all-terrain vehicle, visited the penguin hospital, experienced -18c in a polar storm and a really effective 4D movie. Very enjoyable for a polar nerd like me.

We’re in the suburb of New Brighton - beautiful beach & pier.
