Sound of Summer

This is one of the few bugs that I actually like. It is from the Cicada family, this one is called Tibicen Superbus. One of my favourite things about summer is the sounds of these guys in the trees around the neighbourhood.

This one is actually dead, my daughter found it outside and gave it for her brother for a present :0) When they were younger her and her little bro. used to rush out every morning and collect the casings from the trees . There are large jars of these creepy alien looking things all around my house. And one of mr Tex's favourite jokes is to pull one off a tree and stick it to my shirt, or hair to freak me out - works everytime too LOL
