Marmalade - day 3
I labelled them up. As it was my friend Penny (Isle of Wight ) going on about marmalade that kicked me into action I labelled a pot up for her.
Walked in the morning - as it now hasn’t rained for a few weeks, the walk down to the village is quite pleasant even as the weather was a bit misty and mizzly
Spent the morning potting up the big pots near the house with spring bulbs and primulas. Always looks a bit bare for a while but it’ll fill out over the next few days
We met Anthony and Mum for lunch at the Buck’s Head in Meonstoke and despite Mum protesting at too much food she pretty well devoured the lot. As did I, a very nice roast beef and all the trimmings. I very rarely eat beef, I think it has to be so good to be nice and this was absolutely delicious. Affogato for pudding again one of my very favourites. So a good meal out! It’s a pub known for pizzas and they are very good as well but it wasn’t a pizza day for me.
We parted at the pub, went via Waitrose and picked up a few ingredients for me to make a marmalade cake with some of the left over jelly. It didn’t use up much, three tablespoons.
Watched the first episode of Mr & Mrs Smith on Amazon which was enjoyable. Finished Ordinary Human Failings by Meg Nolan and started Birnam Wood by Elinor Catton. So this way I’ll have read the shortlist for the Nero prize.
