Lawn

Just one day after our Pimms in the long grass, the garden gained a lawn, entirely due to the efforts of the young lad who lives next door but one and who periodically indulges in some guerilla gardening.

I have spoken to his mother about this. Not because I am worried about his state of mind or even to complain about the straightness of some of the edges but to ask if I could pay him, in some way. If he won't take money, as she asserts, perhaps I could buy him some beer? (He does look just about old enough to drink.)

However, she seems determined that he does this as an act of neighbourliness, which is lovely, but I think expressing one's thanks with a small gift is a nice thing to do, too.

Also, I'm worried he might stop.
