SOCCER GIRL

This is a new addition to my Annalee Doll collection.  It arrived yesterday together with other wonderful gifts from my blip friend justbe.  This little doll is called SOCCER GIRL.  Ive tagged her for Silly Saturday.... not that I think she's silly but I do think she is sweet and cute would make anyone smile.  Thanks to davidc for hosting in memory of Admirer.

Newcastle United had a home game this afternoon against Luton - kick off 3pm.  So I got the bus into town early this afternoon.  The football club and the Council were funding  an initiative today where the local bus companies and Metro were giving free travel to anyone with a season ticket or ticket for today's match.  This was to encourage supporters not to travel to the game by car. It didn't affect me as I travel free anyway with my pensioners concessionary pass but a lot of other supporters would have benefited. 

The match was a crazy one.  The final score was 4 - 4.  Newcastle scored a goal after 7 mins.  Luton equalised on 21 mins but then Newcastle went ahead again two mins later. Then on the 40th minute  Luton equalised again.  Score at half time 2-2

In the second half Luton scored a penalty  on the 59th minute..  And then they got another goal after 62 mins.  So score was Newcastle 2 Luton 4. Things were falling apart for The Toon.  But they didn't give up.  They kept at it and scored after 67 mins ... and again after 73 mins to take the score to 4 - 4. Such a strange match with Newcastle supporters going through various emotions as the game went on.......  jubilation, disappointment , annoyance, exasperation, hope ... and then relief.   A win would have been a better outcome but after looking like we would lose the game a draw seems like a good result.

After the match I went straight to the bus station to get my bus home.  When it left it was absolutely packed.  It was a double decker and there were people standing everywhere - even upstairs where you aren't supposed to stand ... and sitting on the stairs all the way up.  Most of the passengers had been to the match and were taking advantage of the free travel deal.
