Picton and the Marlborough Sounds

We have spent a day and a couple of nights in the pretty little town of Picton. We are here because we will take the ferry through the Sounds, over the Cook Strait to Wellington at the bottom of the North Island of NZ.  We spent a pleasant afternoon going out on the Sounds on the "mail" boat, a commercial boat which takes passengers as it drops and collects post at some of the remote homes/holiday houses scattered through this area.  It also picks up and drops off hikers.  It's a beautiful area with lots of pristine native bush and plenty of areas where l am sure no man has ever stepped.
The main photo is the inter Island ferry coming into Picton port
