“Memory and Reflection” is a tall model of a mussel shell with barnacles which illustrate some aspects of Musselburgh life and history. The name of Musselburgh is derived from the banks of mussels which were found off the shore. The back of the stainless steel sculpture reflects the sea and sky while the front has barnacles with little bronze images. These include; ropes previously made at the famous wireworks; Roman coins from the Roman occupation; golf as the Golf club is one of the oldest in the world; net making and repairing fish nets.
