Stump

Chopped stump of a fir tree I planted 25 years ago, and cut down two days ago. This is, I think, the twelfth tree we have lost in the last two years. My attempts to split some of the rounds resulted in a bouncing axe, and finally a “W” chopped in the stump. It would be good if we didn’t lose more.
