Backward steps

It might not look like much. Just another 1960s building.
It was my local library when I was a child, it was a place to explore new books, learn new things and be amazed. All for free.
After nearly 60 years of serving the village it has been closed for good.
I don’t particularly blame the local council. They are victims of over ten years of central government cutbacks. Something has to give.
But voting to give themselves a 10% pay rise in the same week. I do blame them for that crass & insensitive act.
