Between fen and mountains

Shed in a tree

We did not go far afield for today’s walk given that there may have been road blockages by the farmers on the principal routes. Instead, we walked locally along a ridge and then back down the neighbouring valley, 13 kilometres in all and 450 metres of ascent. I was quite surprised to see this treehouse with a man standing on the platform outside it. It must have taken quite an effort to construct it, given the supports on which it sits and I wondered what it was mostly used for. Walking off the ridge back into the valley, we passed the village church (see extra). It is well above the valley floor and has no access road. Local people must have been generally quite fit to attend services. Certainly no elderly person would be able to make the climb.
