Kelvingrove
I went to Kelvingrove Art Gallery this morning to see Alasdair Gray’s ‘Cowcaddens Streetscape in the Fifties’. He painted it in 1964 and it was bought by Glasgow Life Museums in 2023. It seemed very familiar. Perhaps I have seen it before, or maybe I am getting mixed up with some of Grayson Perry’s work that I saw in Edinburgh last year.
After a nice wander round the galleries I headed back along the Kelvin Way. The smell of pine trees is lovely as you walk along past the gardens where a hedge has been constructed from used Christmas Trees, what a great idea!
We are off into town tonight to Celtic Connections to see Tim O’Brien & Friends at the Old Fruitmarket, looking forward to it.
Edit: home now after an excellent concert, photo in 2nd extra.
(For tonight’s show Tim joins forces with renowned musical comrades Dirk Powell, Michael McGoldrick, John Doyle, John McCusker & Jan Fabricius to revisit many of the songs from his revered classic album ‘The Crossing’ – released 25 years ago - in which he connects the lines between American Appalachian music and traditional Irish music. )
