A gull and a church with no roof
I walked down to the city centre - on my favourite waterside route. This is taken from below, on a footbridge, looking over to castle park. The castle ( just a few bits are left) was Norman, built not many years after the invasion, to secure/dominate Bristol. St Peter’s church was built in 1106 originally. It had its roof blown off in the Bristol Blitz in 1940 when it is estimated 1300 civilians were killed. The church is preserved as a memorial to civilians killed in war. Of whom there are so many today too.
I popped into Waterstones (just the other side of the church) to buy a walking book - 20 walks in Bristol and Bath. Hopefully will show some of them here soon:)
