Hey, Goodlookin'!
For me 'backyard' birds don't come more handsome than the Brown Thrasher. That streaky, broad breast, that long downward curving pointy-bill, those piercing yellow eyes and did I mention that gorgeous bright reddish-brown color adorning its head, back and tail?
The Brown Thrasher is an omnivore, eating a varied diet of insects, seeds, fruits and nuts. Oh, and Bark Butter, of course! They are Georgia's State Bird and cousins of our Florida State Bird; the Mockingbird. Like the Mockingbird it boasts a repertoire of over 1000 song types. They spend much of their time at ground level in dense brush and aren't always easy to spot.
