The beach to myself

Today we went on to Farewell Spit, the most northerly part of the South Island and an area of outstanding natural beauty.  The spit extends out like a finger towards the North Island and l wonder if,  at one time, they may have been joined.  Again another National Reserve, the most protected areas of NZ.

1.  Mother and two chick black oyster catchers (rather late in the season)
