Dunoon
This morning I drove into Dunoon with Django and, guided by Turf, we explored the town. The weather was at best dull, and got worse as the rain and wind came on. On the first throw of the ball, it went into the sea but, fortunately, it drifted towards the "beach", and once it was near enough, Django plunged into the water to recover it. The next high point was when we had this view down from a knoll next to Dunoon pier.
Back at the car after 90 minutes, Django was still not interested in eating his breakfast. We were both wet so, with three Turf zones on offer, it was logical to explore Bishop's Glen, as recommended by a local couple we met yesterday. We duly walked around the reservoir, and Django ate his breakfast!
Back at Jameswood, we watched the worsening weather from the comfort of the living room, until we were interrupted by increasingly insistent beeps. So, it wasn't the dishwasher telling us that it had finished, but the fire alarm! No-one else was in the building, so I phoned Claire, and was soon passed onto Cal who suggested a first step. A neighbour came around, so we went out. This gave me the chance to visit the Neolithic "Adam's grave" in the field behind the house (see extra). Unfortunately, "hopping over the fence" (as invited by the house guidebook) meant that Django was accidentally dropped into a narrow, wet ditch, so he returned utterly wet and filthy for the second time today. By the time we had all returned to the house, the alarms were off - a leak had shorted one upstairs and, being the land of linked alarms, they all went off.
On a day short of excitement, this evening we celebrate A's birthday, eating in.
