Later that same Afternoon

Into the heaving metropolis of Kirkwall for messages.  I found my glasses and one glove in the toon.  Recovered our vehicle too.  Went straight along to see my Mum in her care home.  She is ever optimistic.  On entering she offered me a blanket and told me to take it to her parents – this in her 94th year – she was quite insistent.  Went back to HQ; most of the snow has got a shift but there was still a farmer in a JCB clearing the top of Hobbister brae.  After a snack (and watching an interview with Ralph Towner) we went along to see our niece, Emily.  Since coming home late in December she has been incredibly ill.  She’s also kept working on her PhD and marking work of her students.  After a long struggle she’s been diagnosed as having celiac.  So a shift in her diet will be a necessary requirement.  News of a frozen pitch at Forthbank filters through.  We have been invited out to dine with Ms T this evening – a shareholder of the Glee Club.  Why be anywhere else?
