A long day

The alarm goes off at 4am and we're in the taxi to Dom Muang airport before 5. Checkin goes smoothly and we're in Hat Yai before we know it.

After collecting our bags we had outside to wait for the minibus. I visit the 7-11 and get a noodle soup with egg tofu and pork.

The bus takes a few hours to get to the port at Pakbara where we get given numbered boarding cards and told to line up in numerical order for boarding. 

The journey to Ko Lipe in the speedboat is only an hour and a half, but it's unpleasant. There are no windows and the boat slams uncomfortably into each wave. Within minutes it looks like something out of Squid Games - lots of heads missing of in some sort of motion induced stupor. 

From sunset beach we get a tuk tuk to take us to Castaway on sunrise beach - an unnerving experience. But the huts are great, nestled in the trees,  well built with hammocks on the porch. And there's a bar restaurant just a stone throw away.
