Winter
Despite the weather, I got my eye surgery done today. I thanked the folk who did it, though it didn't seem enough. It has been an odd day in which the winter weather played a significant role. I now have distance vision without glasses which is amazing. I still don't understand how they can do this. Below is my winter poem.
Winter has blown in from the Yukon
radiating eye-blinding Persil whiteness
giving relief to stoats and mountain hares
and bringing hope to ptarmigan
those funny birds who only exist
in nature programmes
where winter lasts a full season
Here winter is a sneaky slap
in the face, strutting its stuff
and frosting the playpark
before limping off
and dissolving into slush
