The New Year

I wonder how long it will take the Mairie to remove this festive sign. If previous years are anything to go by, several weeks of even months. A lot of people have been complaining that lots of things in the village are not receiving the attention they should. This morning, our much awaited match was cancelled as it had rained quite a lot during the night and the courts were still wet. The opponents had already cancelled the match for no good reason in December so now that it could not be replayed, we won by forfeit. The tennis lesson was similarly cancelled but by lunchtime there was one court just about playable so three of us had a practice. I went on to French conversation before returning for a cup of tea and a slice of panettone. The printer at the church had run out of ink so, having ordered some, I installed the new cartridges. The difference in price between compatibles and the maker's cartridges is astonishing. I saved around €100 buying the compatibles which work perfectly well.
