Let It Snow

We listened to snow accumulation reports all day from our Maryland and Tennessee families. It was definitely a large storm and we seemed to be getting the least of it here. The fluffy stuff came down all day and even though it was below freezing, the hotel parking lot remained clear. That is, until I awoke from an afternoon nap. The snowstorm has intensified and everything is covered. Geez. How is it possible we chose the few days in two years that such a storm has arrived to drive through its same path? Our area has snow so seldom that we don’t use “snow tires” and folks truly do not know how to drive on snow (that quickly turns to packed ice). Being in the mountains just makes this trip more frightening to me. Since the roads were fine around 1:00 pm, we went to the nearest restaurant for lunch. They had their fireplace lit. To get a photo of the entire thing, at this angle, you cannot see much of the fire. But it made the room cozy for sure. The waitress gave us extra biscuits; they will be our dinner. Not going out now. Our DIL had planned a short trip to Florida this week to visit friends. She sent us pictures of her plane being de-iced in DC. But she arrived safely. Our son just sent a new photo - the town she is visiting is under a tornado warning. I guess the weather is dicey all along the East coast of the U.S. I am awaiting news of our grand Mancil’s safe return home. He went on a school ski trip to Lake Placid, NY this long weekend. They have not left NY yet; it takes over seven hours for the drive so he should be back around 2:00 am. Of course, this storm is along his route also. Oh my. It was just a few days ago that I mentioned to fellow blipper Berger how I hoped we got snow at least once before Easter. Voila. Careful what you wish for, folks! You just might get it when you least expect/want it. Thanks for your visit and kind wishes.
