Well, what a day we had yesterday.  We started by going down to the local market.  It is huge and we had great fun going around all the stalls and into the fruit and veg area which is a feast for the eyes.
In the afternoon we hopped on a bus and  headed south east of Melbourne out to Phillip island  to see Koalas and then later, as it got dark, to the coast to await the arrival of the tiny blue penguins (fairy penguins) back out of the ocean with food for their chicks.  What a wonderful performance to watch; they all seemed to group together in 'rafts' of about 20, they would move up out of the water, get spooked go back to the water and eventually move in their group up the beach, through the sand dunes to their burrows.  As they neared their burrows they got quite verbal and we were able to watch them up close from the boardwalks. It was cold as we sat huddled on the beach and we were happy go hop on our bus and back in Melbourne at 12pm!
