The Pipes, the Pipes are Calling

The 3 of us are off. The LLT (wife Lisa, sister Lisa, and me) Express has left the building. We left Fenton, Michigan at 7:41 this morning, bound for Bradenton, Florida...which is 1,260 miles south.

It didn't start well. 90 minutes of a winter storm kept the speed low, at least for most of us. But, near Bowling Green, Ohio, the weather cleared and we were soon back up to the speed limit.

Smooth sailing until southern Kentucky until a semi-truck accident slowed traffic down for almost an hour. I hope against hope that the driver survived, but the mangled mess we saw probably said otherwise.

With both delays, it changed our thinking, and we stopped for the night in Dalton, Georgia...going 670 miles of our 1,260. Tired, and road weary.

The organ pipes were in the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, Kentucky. Although we are not Catholic, I rarely pass up the chance to see a minor basilica. We've been here before, but it is an impressive building.

P.S. As an added bonus, the organist was practicing for the weekend, so the church was filled with music.
