Let Them Eat Cake

Well here you have it - one chocolate cake served with Greek Yoghurt and a choice of tea or coffee for my 5 book groupers and me. The house was suitably warmed for the occasion and the lamps lit because of the lack of daylight on offer. It all felt quite cosy, like a memory of distant times when the heating was on for most of the day and I could walk about the house without wearing my down jacket to ward off the chill.

It was all so sociable and cosy that it took ages to get to the point of  discussing the book- Lessons by Iain McEwan. Nobody owned up to really enjoying the read and we all felt it could have been edited much more. There were many historical happenings in the text which we were of an age to remember and although it was a novel we imagined there to be much autobiographical content included.

I managed to relieve myself of the remains of the cake by awarding it to absent husbands.
It’s Friday again and the TGIF drink awaits me  at 4pm. Slainthe!
