Still very cold
Had to get up this morning when it was still dark because Ann was going to work and I needed a decent walk before she went. When we left the house it was very dark so I had to wear my illuminating collar, though having said that, by the time I got to the beach it was starting to get light.
I was the only doggie on the beach. It's mega quiet in St Ives at the moment. There's hardly anyone about.
It was very, very cold. Ann says she can't remember it ever being this cold in Cornwall, but she's sure it must have been. 25 years ago she was the assistant manager in a hotel and she used to take the owners dog out, first thing every morning, and can't remember ever having to wear gloves. Maybe one feels the cold the older one gets??................
Anyway, Ann went to work for a five hour shift, which means that by the time she's walked to and from work, I've been left 'home alone' for five and a half hours. When we came back to St Ives, Ann told the 'Pool Club' that she would work as much or as little as they wanted they seem to want her for the rest of her life. Lol! as long as no shift was longer than five hours. There were two reasons for this....................... Firstly, she thinks that five and a half hours is long enough for me to be 'home alone', though to be honest I don't really care how long Ann leaves me for. I really am the most adaptable little Collie pup in the world.
And secondly...................... at Ann's age (she'll be 65 years old in March), being on her feet for five hours, wears her out, because let's face it, she's still got my walks to fit into the day.
The 'Pool Club' is in the most fantastic location on St Ives Wharf and looking out at the harbour, in brilliant sunshine, it looked like a summer's day. Ann had to go out to buy milk at about 12.30pm and it felt warm too. Not so at 3pm when her shift ended. It was freezing................. and she was tired................. so when she came home, I only went into the field to play with my ball. I played with my ball for 20 mins and that totally wore me out. Ann is so glad that I am a 'lazy' dog!!! 'MollyCollie' would never have accepted a 20 min play in the field as a proper walk. There again, Ann was almost 20 years younger when she first adopted 'MollyCollie' and she also had a 'sitting down' job, so had more energy when she came home.
Oh and to get back to how cold it is.......................... It's a beautiful evening, the sky is clear but we've got the heating on full and Ann is wearing a sweater and a fleece?!!! I'm OK. I've just gobbled up my dinner and am having yet another snooze in my bed.
Happy Thursday Evening Blippers. xxx
