A Grand Old Tree

This wonderful old chestnut tree in Saltram House gardens looked very grand today in the morning sunshine. A characteristic of these trees is the way the trunk twists around. I took this photo so that the tree almost fits the frame as it seems to emphasise the experience of being in the presence of such a magnificent old tree.
