Crisp and cold and even and another fabulous day - not a cloud in the sky 0kay a few on the horizon miles off. I went for a bracing walk around the headland near the air India memorial - so still and colourful and rich in bird life.
I saw:
loads of cormorants
two northern divers
an egret
a heron chasing a cormorant,
a curfew of curlew
a lone turnstone
my usual gull
two stonechats
several robins
and up on the headland snipe kept erupting from the gorse at my feet.
Humans were in short supply apart from these two kayakers gliding silently out into the bay, three swimmin' wimmin' complete with dry robes and beanies, and my neighbour whizzing by on a bike.
Later I tackled a bit more brambling in the garden, birds still in evidence as I was accompanied by a zephyr how lovely is that of long-tailed tits.
Asking Will if he was around for a skype, the message came back that he was in Long Kennet long barrow drinking ginger tea and eating Christmas cake.
