Iconic van

I always like to see the iconic Citroen van in place in the Folkestone Eurotunnel terminal. It feels like we are almost back on home ground. The journey went smoothly, although the UK rain followed us until just north of Paris. We checked into the budget hotel and were pleased to be offered some Galette des Rois at reception. The galette des rois is a cake traditionally shared at Epiphany, on 6th January. It celebrates the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem. Composed of a puff pastry cake, with a small charm, the fève, hidden inside, it was filled with frangipane, a cream made from sweet almonds, butter, eggs and sugar.
