Bussing

As we prepared to fly back to Dar es Salaam, rumours abounded about planes not being able to land due to too much rain on the runway at Arusha airport. There was talk of passengers being bussed to Kilimanjaro airport one hour away. After more downpours the weather suddenly cleared enough for us to be on our way with a manageable delay. This was both a relief and a delight as Arusha does have dramatic views of Mount Meru which are great to see during boarding.

The traffic in Dar es Salaam was painful, even at 9pm. The rain plays havoc with the roads in Dar, which are slow-going at the best of times. I was glad to reach home after a non-stop itinerary which is continuing in the same vein for a few more weeks.
