Mahonia

The scent is really strong, smelling of lily of the valley, and a lovely surprise when nearly everything else is dormant.  The bumble bees love it and it must be one of their first foods of the year. There was one flying around this afternoon.

Made the effort to do a shop at the supermarket this morning  while the sun was shining and only the occasional shower.  One could feel the heat of the sun in a sheltered spot - it must be about 12 C.  On the way driving down there I spotted many daffodils in flower along the side of the main road - must be an early variety surely although there are a few showing their colour in the lanes near me.
