Flame tree in the grounds of St Barnabas Church

Not native to Norfolk Island of course, but this is a magnificent specimen of the widely planted ornamental tropical tree. Also known as the flamboyant tree, it is a legume (Fabaceae): royal poinciana or to give it its Latin name, Delonix regia.
I went to the cemetery first thing this morning to walk along the beach to Emily Bay. There is a photo in extras, including the oldest tombstone I could find (dated 1807).
Home tomorrow. It's forecast to rain, so good timing.
