Perfect afternoon

My plan for the afternoon - a cup of green tea and a new book - gifted to me for Christmas by my youngest. 

It's such a dreich day here today - dull skies and fine, persistent rain that seems somehow to soak more effectively than large rain drops! We all ventured out for a walk this morning up to our local woodland and were soaked through by the time we returned home, so we're happy to be spending the afternoon cosied up indoors. 

We took the Christmas tree down this morning, along with all the other decorations, so the house looks awfully bare. The festive leftovers in the fridge have finally been demolished, and OH returns to work tomorrow, although I'm not back until Monday, but today feels very much like the last day of the holidays. Just like that, it's all over for another year!
