Best wishes for 2024

I did the usual pictures of the fireworks over Edinburgh Castle from the attic as the bells rang out but this indulgence sums up the day better.

If 2023 has taught us anything - and the same can be said of 2022 - you do not know what is round the corner.

So we decided to celebrate the past year. It had its down moments but it also had many up ones, including the birth of our grandson, our daughter in law getting her PhD, some great weddings and, in my case, a wonderful trip to Tiree and Coll.

This bottle was given to me by our son many years ago and I have been saving it up for a special family event when we were all together. Today was the day and it was very enjoyable.

We also made two quick visits to friends to say hello and we enjoyed another turkey dinner (a family favourite with bread sauce and all the trimmings).

So a lovely start to the year with the wish to all those who read this that your year in 2024 can experience more ups than downs and that you are happy, healthy and safe.
