Happy New Year!

We brought in the new year, wearing white as is the tradition here, on Copacabana beach. Rio put on a fantastic display of fireworks once again. We're grateful to be able to enjoy the atmosphere and show and then walk home in just five minutes. Wishing all our blip friends a very Happy New Year and all the very best for 2024.

We'd enjoyed a very late lunch of chicken, chips and Brazilian trimmings in a very traditional 'galeto' place, Braseiro, on Rua Domingos Ferreira (actually on the 31st). December). 

On the day of the 1st January, we had lunch at La Marisquería on Barata Ribeiro (casquini do siri and then I had sole with almonds and Bb had moqueca -  kind of a fish stew in dende oil), then a walk and stop along the front of Copacabana, where I took my second extra. At night we tried a newish  place, very close to us, Parada on Barato Ribeiro. We liked it and will go back - busier than Típicamente and a different atmosphere. 

For our own records, we were on the beach for the fireworks at the bottom of Rua Santa Clara. The security police were turning people away from entering the front here, but our over-60 status got us through with 10 minutes to spare before the bells!
