Happy Hospitality

As you can imagine, not much time for photos, but only Pr Marcos not on this one (and myself); Samara hiding behind her brother. 

Was a really happy occasion, and they all came, and were only half an hour late, and they liked my food.

And then, they produced two absolutely delicious and beautiful cakes, and brigadeiros, all made by Nicéia, for her birthday, and mine, and sang to us in Portuguese, English and Croatian (Carol works in Croatia). And presents!

And we went round the table, each person choosing two words to sum up 2023. Mine were grief (at the wars, especially Ukraine and Palestine) and gratitude (Eden's dedication, and Paul's wedding and so much more).

As soon as they left, at about five, we went to bed, and then got up and started the clearing up.

Gratefuls:
- time with these great colleagues of ours, and their love for us
- "getting the place hospitable, and that they came and enjoyed it, and that they left, and getting it straight again" (quote from Mike)
- Mike doing the lion's share of the washing up (they wanted to help with the washing up, but I wanted them to get home before the wild boars start roaming)
