Krohn Conservatory

Tuesday/Boxing Day
Another mild grey dismal day, but we found plenty of colour at the seasonal display at Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park downtown. It’s a wonderful display of poinsettias, and other plants, interspersed with models of numerous Cincinnati buildings. It’s a holiday tradition for us, as each year is arranged a bit differently, and most years they add something new - this years addition is the Underground Railroad museum, shown in the extra. The main picture depicts the Mount Adams area of Cincinnati, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city, set up on a hill. Top right shows the Proctor and Gamble headquarters twin towers, and the Tyler Davidson fountain. Lower right shows the Conservatory itself, and the central image with stars shows the Palm House displaying tropical plants. Unfortunately Jason isn’t included in the family shots, as he decided to stay home, and not spread his cold germs around. Afterwards we went to show Jenn and Laura a couple of the real buildings/areas they weren’t familiar with, the painted ladies in Columbia Tusculum, and the Carol Chimes Bell Tower across the river in Covington, which we had actually not seen ourselves. We had been planning a walk along the river, but it started to rain at this point, so instead we went home and enjoyed a cup of tea and Christmas cake, then played some more games before dinner.
