We were actually up first today and took a wind-blown trip to the airport. Their flight was delayed so the French connection was missed but I think Esme is now staying overnight in Heathrow with her stepdad before journeying on tomorrow - I don't envy him, Joe sent a short video of her fuelled up on blueberry muffins! There will be a crash!
What a wondrous time we had. How fantastic to have us all together - first time for 5 years - and what a privilege to share some special time with this incredible little girl.
I did okay at the airport farewell but it was returning to a messy but silent house that did it. We have collected all the artworks together, put the many collected shells in the garden, hoovered up a bit of the glitter and sand (half of Barley Cove came home with us the other day) put in loads of washing and retrieved little treasures hidden in unexpected places. How sad the other passengers on the planes will be to know that her wooden slide whistle was forgotten.
