‘Star Man’
Christmas Eve, during a morning visit to the car I heard a “Toot Toot”, saw a puff of steam down the road and thought steam engine but was puzzled at not seeing anything but once I’d stepped round the car I could see it.
Mrs S and Sam came out and with no traffic on the road we were able to watch a proud dad driving with his son as Santa, a lovely way to start the day.

Mrs S is half Polish and in a Polish traditional Christmas the star has special significance. On Christmas Eve the first star of the night is named “Gwiazda,” meaning “little star,” in remembrance of the Star of Bethlehem with ‘Santa’ often known as the ‘Star Man’.
Tradition states that at the moment the first star appears, greetings and good wishes are exchanged.
In our house gifts, wrapped in star paper, are exchanged and normally our Christmas Eve meal would be fish.
So with Mrs S on a long day tomorrow we decided to have tomorrow’s Christmas Lunch as a Christmas Eve Dinner. It went well, with military precision the cooking times were listed working backwards from ready to eat.
A really lovely meal, two meals really, Mrs S and mine and the vegan option for Sam, thoroughly enjoyed, followed Star Man gifts in front of a log fire with the tree lit.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
