Mellow yellow

These are brightening our days just now, except when it is running rampant in the garden!

So many fields just now are glowing with the soft yellow of the meadow buttercup, compared with the rather gaudy yellow of the rape fields, and indeed I blipped just such a mellow landscape yesterday. So i thought today i would give the buttercup the honour of having its own blip day. In this shot you can see quite clearly how it got its name, as some of the petals look just like melted butter. Their anthers are so full of pollen too that they are a joy to the bees as well as to ourselves.

On another subject altogether, my son has been back in the UK for a training course and is spending the week end in Scotland seeing some of his former school chums. Anyway I am going to drive him back south on Monday and he is going to share the driving, so I was trying to add him as a temporary driver. I was surprised at the amount of the quote and when I challenged the young lady from the insurance company she admitted that the prices for adding temporary drivers had increased because so many people are now putting their teenage children on as temporary drivers as they cannot afford the full insurance for them. etc ... etc.. So she suggested that as he is far from being a teenager she would look at putting him as a named driver permanently. This halved the cost! So, no brainer..... but interesting!
