Bad move!

This morning I woke up to find that Cara had removed her bandage during the night and had proceeded to work away at the stitches under her foot in order to gain access to the ones lurking deeper inside where the main wound was! She even seemed proud of herself.

Quite a while later we emerged from the vets with a newly bandaged foot plus a head collar - totally de rigeur ! The vet had to cut away the stitches Cara had worked loose, clean out the wound where she had nibbled at it and was just able to close it up by means of three staples. Apparently there is very little good skin around the site so another op to re-stitch is definitely not recommended. As it is she has apparently set her recovery back by at least 5 days!

The collar has not been a huge success - as I imagine you can see from the blip - but she is learning that she has to persevere and at least now she has managed to lie down with it on. Initially she stood in the kitchen, breathing rapidly and refusing to move! She has to have it on at all times when I am not with her to keep an eye on things. I feel heart sorry for her as she simply does not understand.

So, I am sorry for yet another dog blip - but that has been my day!
