Sally Mair - Loving life

Just for a change

Just for a change, I thought I'd blip something not related to Christmas festivities. I bought these hyacinths about a month ago and remembered someone had told me not to water them. So I haven't and they have flowered beautifully, have a wonderful scent and haven't fallen over. Every time I look up and see them on the hearth I admire them.

This morning we woke up a quiet house after all the excitement of yesterday and breakfasted slowly and separately as each emerged from their cocoon.
It was so nice to have had all hands on deck yesterday and to find a tidy house waiting and the present mountain disappeared.
I didn't mention but we had a couple of calls yesterday to my mother in law in Aberdeenshire who was celebrating her 101st birthday. She had a great day although with not quite the large celebrations of last year.

In Edinburgh today though, my sister, and we two permanent residents have barely crossed the threshold and have enjoyed: setting up new electronics, Colin; reading instructions (me, I always read instructions and follow them); reading and viewing, my sister.
Jon popped by to pick up their family's presents as they had left the car here last night - the girls went home on their scooters while their parents walked. He and Eilidh were going out later today to try out her toy drone.

I thoroughly enjoyed my turkey and cranberry sandwich this afternoon, home made cranberry sauce is so good. This evening we watched episode 2 of Vigil.
The weather is set to deteriorate from tomorrow so we may regret not taking the opportunity to go for a walk. Never mind, lots more turkey and cranberry to enjoy.
My puzzle yesterday was partly answered, see extra. Not just Santas but angels and teddies too. I am an absolute sucker for Lindt tree chocolates as noted by my middle granddaughter recently. She thought I had more chocolate than tinsel on the tree and that I enjoyed giving it to people! I think I may have overdone it even by my standards this year though.
I hope you too enjoyed feasting on this feast of Stephen, me,  I'm off for a fairly early night .
