Gayfield House
On East London Street. This view only available now the leaves are off the trees. Built shortly before 1765 by Charles and William Butter .. there are much more modern buildings on either side, including a telephone exchange and Avis car rental. Canmore has interior pictures and a detailed description of how it was in 1941.
In extra, the back of Mansfield Traquair, showing how the ground drops off to the North behind it .. another only without leaves picture.
Both taken first thing, when it was calm and dry. We did go out again in the early afternoon, by London Road gardens to St Margaret's loch in Holyrood Park - counted 24 swans, most of them taking off and flying from one end to the other as we watched. It was raining hard at that point, so no pictures .. Back by no 26 bus.
Roasted venison with red cabbage for dinner. Talked to my brother who was setting up for a big group for the meal.
