Every Little Step

Out with A Bang.

After a lovely sunny day yesterday, a storm rolled in last night.

We could see it coming for ages before it hit us.  There was a lot of lightning Alexandra, and I were watching it from the balcony, it was very hot and still.

We decided to go inside as the lightning was getting a bit close, and the clouds looked an ominous green colour.

Within a few minutes all hell broke loose.

We'd already shut the windows luckily.

But the wind was horrendous, and the rain torrential.

I then noticed water coming in our front door, so a towel was placed in front of that.

Then the front windows started to leak, more towels were used.

Then the window upstairs next to the balcony window started leaking, more towels.

At one point I thought the balcony door was going to blow in the wind was so strong.

We were rushing around like mad things, checking every room.

We lost power for a few seconds.  But just as I got torches it came back on.

The storm lasted for about 20 minutes to half an hour.

After it had finished, we discovered we'd lost our front fence, luckily it fell onto our grass and not the neighbours cars. And we've also got a bit of water damage in the ceiling in the garage.

But we weren't prepared for the amount of damage we saw when we went for a walk this morning,

We've been extremely lucky, hardly any damage and we've still got power.  Over 130,00 people haven't.

We've never seen a storm like this in all the years we've lived here.

As I'm typing I can hear another storm approaching.

I'd better go and get those towels!!
